about me

hey there.

I've been in the furry fandom for some time now. I consider myself to have joined in 2010, though I've only been a properly active participant since about 2019, and it took me until mid 2020his first refsheet was finished on june 21st, or in US date notation, 6/21 to finally settle on the character I wanted to create and use as my own.

I often refer to komu as my sona, and by most metrics, he is. he's a sort of idealized version of me, and I use him to represent myself wherever I am in the fandom. even though it feels strange for furries to refer to me by any name other than his at this point, he nonetheless doesn't quite feel like he is me at this point. though I initially made him with not much else in mind beyond certain intentionshe is still used for these intentions, sometimes quite vigorously, I couldn't help but begin to explore the outlines of what I saw in him and around him, and he and his setting have since become much more than their original design.

my primary artistic mode in the fandom is writing. I write about komu, his time and place, and about other characters and their times and places. I'm slowly learning how to draw too, since I have ideas that I think would be best shown visually by my own hand. I hope that relatively soon, I'll be able to put up the first story I've been working on about him, as well as a small wiki with details about where he lives and its history and culture.

there's lots of other things I enjoy too. systems administration, cyber security, tinkering with and configuring computers in general. I've been daily driving linuxarch btw off-and-on since 2014 (continuously since 2022), and I consider myself part of the movements for open source software and culture. I also have a strong interest in and around what I collectively term "deep time topics"; history, historical and evolutionary linguistics, comparative mythology, archaeology, archaeogenetics, evolutionary biology, paleontology, historical geology, and cosmology, among others.

I'm by no means limited to these, there's a good chance that whatever you're interested in, I'll find it interesting too if you want to chat about it~
